CMIT Programs in the Great Lakes Area

Chi Alpha Campus Ministries
Chi Alpha is a national campus ministry sponsored by the Assemblies of God. We are a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers on university campuses, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus Christ, equipped to fulfill our purpose in God's global plan. We reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and mission to transform the university, the marketplace and the world. Our core values are Community, Creativity, Diversity, Excellence, Integrity, and Servant-Leadership.

 What is a CMIT?
CMIT stands for Campus Missionary in Training. A CMIT is an individual who feels a call to vocational ministry of some kind or campus missions and commits a year or more to an internship experience in order to receive training and equipping to test and approve this call. Since an internship is full time commitment, it requires participants to raise missionary support.

An internship will equip a CMIT in five areas:
  • ¶   Character development and spiritual maturity
  • ¶   Practical ministry and leadership experience
  • ¶   Educational development in theology, exegesis, and ministry issues
  • ¶   Training and experience in communication on multiple levels
  • ¶   The First level of Ministerial Credential with the Assemblies of God
You should consider completing an internship if you feel God speaking to you about giving back to university missions, serving in a way that helps you grow more deeply in your walk with Christ to prepare better for the marketplace, or are considering ministry as a career, no matter your age, stage of life, or previous ministry experience.
